After you have exhausted your unemployment benefits the maximum sub

payment is $365 per week  (plus $10.00 for each dependent up to four). (Per page 4 Sub Benefit Plan Book)

Please make sure you are including your dependents on each of your sub forms.

Some laid off employees have been confusing this number of dependent field with their tax exemption status – it has nothing to do with that.

Information will be given on the following subjects:
1. Company Benefits
2. MI Works! Including TAA information
3. Unemployment Insurance Agency

It is highly recommended you attend.

Representatives from local Unions, Human Resources, MI Unemployment Agency and MI Works! will be on hand to answer any concerns. Packages with information will be provided for every individual affected by this layoff.

Information/Supplies you will need to bring to the meeting:
1. Personal email address
2. Driver’s License
3. Bank Routing Number and Account Number (Direct deposit is highly recommended)
4. Pen – for taking notes
We strongly encourage you to attend this meeting.

The signing bonus is scheduled to be paid on Thursday, October 20th.
For those on layoff, this will have to be claimed.
When filing unemployment, Do Not claim for the week ending Oct 22.

Scheduled to speak is Mike Prusi who was a Democratic member of the Michigan Senate, who represented the 38th District from 2003 to 2010. His district included Gogebic, Iron, Ontonagon, Delta, Dickinson, Keweenaw, Houghton, Baraga, Marquette, Alger, Luce, Schoolcraft, and Menominee counties in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Previously he was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from 1995 through 2000. During his final term, he served as the Senate Minority Leader, following the election of the previous leader,Mark Schauer, to the U.S. House.

There are several postings on the SGI website as well as at Michigan Works for laborers, quarry supervisor, and journeyman electricians. The current wage rate for the laborer position is $18.93/hour – there is an 80% rate for 6 months and a 90% for the next 6 months. If you are trained and filling in for another production position, you will receive the same 80% and 90% pay for that position until you reach a year seniority. The pay for the industrial journeyman electrician is currently $32.73/hour.
